Week 5

Another week has passed and it’s unbelievable how fast time has gone by. Little by little we are making our plans for Christmas with fellow DTS students. There’s lot of different Kenyan parts to choose by, so the choice is pretty hard. It’s really nice to know though that we are welcome to go and spend time with any of the staff or Kenyan student’s families. It just doesn’t feel much of a winter yet and probably won’t, so it’s hard to believe there is only little more than one month until Christmas. The sun is still very hot and the scalp of my head continues to be sunburned, so yeah can’t say I miss summer.

Last week passed extremely fast and it feels like I’m still living in it. Nothing mentionable happened in relation to our studies. The topic that week was “Relationships” so it was more like a confirmation from a speaker. It was really nice though and definitely made me think about lot of things, but as our focus needs to be God and only Him at the moment, I just kept them in mind and didn’t bother my head so much about other relationships. As the speaker said, God knows the right timing for everything! I do feel that it was a great week to continue growing in Christ, knowing that I’m not the only one struggling with relationships or other things, but know that we all go through some hard times as Christians.

On Monday that week we got our first big rain. It was raining pretty much the whole day but luckily stopped by 2pm. Dynel and I were happy as we planned to go to Makutano to buy some stuff. We walked there and back without any rain, what a blessing. Little did we know that by the time were coming back there was a huge muddy rain water river between our base and the road back from Makutano. It was like freaking Amazon flowing in front of our eyes. There was no other way to get back to the base without crossing it, so…that’s what we did! With our clothes on we jumped into this poop looking water not knowing how deep it was. Soon enough we figured it out when we were covered with it until our waste. It took us about 15minutes and several outburst of laughter until we were safely on the other side. Needless to say we were in a spotlight when we got back to our base. As nasty it might sound it was actually really fun and I would do it again any time. That same night we found a huge spider from our room. I flipped out like crazy! It was so big with blue head and something that reminded teeth. Hellen, my roomie, was brave enough to smack it with a broom and by that time all the guys had ran to our room as my yelling had been heard everywhere. They killed it, but it was really hard to go to bed that night. What a day it had been!

The rest of that week went by really fast. The whole week we played “angels” doing something good for other people. Each one of us got a name of a person from the base and our job as angels was to do or buy that person something nice. My person was Yuma and bought him cookies, peanuts and wrote some notes. I as well got some very nice letters from my angels and a soda one of those days. On Friday we revealed ourselves and it was so much fun to guess who had been your angel. Like I had been suspecting mine was Tasha :)

On Saturday we went swimming to a high school in Machakos. It was so much fun and we had a real blast. We swam, played cards and of course danced some African dances with the school girls. I love it so much! I bet it will be something I will be missing a lot once I am back at home.

I think I mentioned all the most exciting things in that week. I have 10minutes until work-duty so I need to wrap it up, but just a little note that it will be a while until my next blog. Our Internet connection needs to be uploaded with credit, but I have no idea when can we do it as we are all leaving the base early this Friday. Rose’s mom passed away, so we are going to attend the funeral and stay there until Sunday. So just quick favor from you to keep me, us and specially Rose in your prayers and I will keep you posted, when I keep you posted. Thank you all for your love, miss you so much!

God bless!
